Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans welcomes you to our Mabon/Autumnal Equinox ritual on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chalice Room of First Unitarian Society.

Children of any age who are comfortable (and cooperative) with 10 minutes of meditation are welcome; there's a fenced playground for them on the Groveland Ave. side of the building -- please bring them early so they can play before the ceremony; and do remember to close the gate when you leave the playground. Potluck is AFTER ceremony, so please feed them supper before
they come.

Drummers, please arrive at 7:00 for warm-up and pick-up drum-choir.
Your donation of $5-10 helps to defray the rent we pay. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Your RSVP ensures that we are prepared for the number of guests. Please see and bookmark here for full details of each of our seasonal festivals.

No other additional public Equinox/Mabon festivals in the TwinCities area have been reported as of 8/26. See bottom of page to list yours.

Retreat in the Woods: Going Deeper
Friday, August 29th – Monday, September 1st

Before the summer ends and weather keeps us indoors, we invite you to share a Pagan retreat.

We will gather in an ancient forest on Friday evening to slow down, create a village, get grounded, and join the harmony of the forest community. Around the campfire, we'll listen to each other deeply through drumming, and sharing stories and songs.

Using all our senses and guided meditation, we will deepen our connection with nature: listening to tree song, hiking by starlight, chanting in harmony with the insect choirs. We'll cross the threshold into sacred space, each of us creating a unique personal altar.

We'll tap into the creativity and wisdom of the Inner Child with some games and magickal crafts. We'll try on an assortment of Pagan spiritual practices to see what fits you as a way to re-enchant your everyday life.

And because a retreat always ends in a return to our homes and jobs, we'll explore ways in which we can nurture our Deep Selves after we leave on Monday.

No selling, no vendors, no crowds. Space is limited.

Location: 1 hour from Minneapolis in a group camp in an old growth forest. We have rented a pavilion for group activities in case of rain.

Cost: $100 includes all meals, materials, program, and space for camping.
(state parking fee and nearby RV hookups extra.) You will need to provide your own sleeping bag and tent, all other camping supplies provided. Bring a drum or other musical instrument if you like. For the campfire, bring a song, a story, or a poem that is meaningful to you. You may also want a cushion, blanket or chair for sitting on the ground in circle)

Reserve your place by email NOW for this intimate group experience. LATE REGISTRATION CLOSES Thursday, Aug 28. ABSOLUTELY NO WALK-INS. Space is limited.

For more information

Registration form Late registrants, copy and email.

Our next scheduled open registration camp will be held Memorial Day Weekend. Campers who reserve (sending a check or money order for $25/adult) in Sept. 2008 can attend at the same price. Children are $25 @ and special programming will be available for them.

Magical Activism Mounds Park August 30th
Ritual and Pre-Planning Gathering

The whole world seems to be gathering in the Twin Cities for the Republican Convention in early September. In preparation for this event, a local magical activism group called 3 Daughters and a Fool has been engaged in spellworking for about a year. The intention of the spell is to court an upwelling of earth wisdom into the convention center as well as weave a web of strength, protection, and inspiration for all beings that come to it. We will doing a ritual at Mounds Park on Saturday evening, August 30 in support of this spellworking.

In preparation for this ritual, we are having a gathering at Mounds Park in St Paul on Wednesday, July 30 at 6:30pm. We will meet at the Weeping Woman statue in the park and plan the ritual and do magic together. We would love this ritual to engage the broader pagan community.

Please forward this note to any beings or groups who you think would be called to this work. For more information, email Paul Eaves at elvisian13@yahoo.com

Pagan Pride Days October 3-4 at Sabatthani

Pagan Pride Day
More info at www.paganinstitute.org/local_activism.shtml

Be a Player!  Volunteer!

There are several options available -- please check out our website www.tcpaganpride.org or email info@tcpaganpride.org for information.

We Need Your Financial Support, Too!

As a public awareness and community festival, our local Pagan Pride Day is under mandate to remain free to the public. But putting on a major Pagan festival in a large urban area and publicizing it to solitaries and the general public isn't cheap. Any support you can give will help produce a bigger and better Pagan Pride for 2008.

Keep checking back to our website for updates.

Peace Demonstrations in St. Paul Sept. 1 and 4

"The RNC Welcoming Committee" has been planning to demonstrate on Labor Day, Sept. 1, marching from the State Capitol to Xcel Center in St. Paul. Unfortunately, the permit limits the march to 4 hours, although it will take 6 hours for the expected 100,000 people to march the entire distance. In spite of long negotiations, the demonstrators will not be allowed to be present when the RNC conventioners are actually at Xcel Center to see them.

This event has been planned to be pacifist and family friendly; expect good humor, kids in decorated strollers, face paint, art and hope. If there are any problems, they will likely involve the people in the tail end of the demonstration, which may have no tolerated exit.

MPR announced that a second, smaller Peace demonstration ("for the most committed,") will be held on Sept. 4, the last day of the RNC convention. They have a permit. If there are problems at the Labor Day demonstration, it will provoke the Sept. 4th demonstrators, which has hinted about civil disobedience.

Starhawk to be at Peace Island Conference
in St. Paul Sept. 2 & 3

So far as we know, NO RITUAL is planned for the RNC "welcoming party," but Starhawk will be in town for the Peace Island conference http://www.peaceisland.us/

Pagan activists might investigate this national conference as a great opportunity for education and networking. Registration is open for $50. A group is developing a public ritual to be led by Starhawk and organized to support the "upwelling of earth wisdom" activity. Likely this event will be promoted widely as the event approaches.

How to Publicize Your Event Here

If you didn't find your open to the public group in this 'zine, here's how you can change that: First, please check for your category in the navigation bar. As our coverage has expanded to include more groups, we've had to divide into several pages in order to speed loading times.

If your group isn't listed, we probably just didn't get the information from your group.  It's our goal to provide the most complete coverage of public Pagan events in Minnesota. CUUPS provides this as a free service to the Pagan community.  But we can't do it without help!  Please do your part by sending full information.
See submissions_and_policies. We will run items up to 2-3 months in advance, so your guests can plan.
