On this page...

These listings are provided as a service to the Minnesota Pagan community. On this page you will find groups which represent some of our first local Pagan institutions, because they offer the regularly scheduled events that are building our community. Don't forget to also check for classes and featured events in the navigation bar to the left.

They call the Twin Cities "Paganistan,"

and this page tells you why. Recurring events are a vital element in building community. There are so many Pagan events in the Metro area that we had to move recurring Pagan events here just to reduce your load times.

Included in below, you'll find...

Pagan AA now meeting Mondays and Thursdays
Shamanic Drumming with Jaime Meier at First Universalist Church
Coffee Cauldron
Druids' Grove Gather at Merlin's Rest

No group listed here currently fits this description.

These listings are free but it's each group's responsibility to get the information to us, check your notice, and verify it every 3 months. IF YOUR GROUP IS NOT YET VERIFIED their listing since the last solstice or equinox, please contact us A.S.A.P. so we can update.

Didn't find YOUR group's event here?

It's our goal to provide the most complete coverage of public Pagan events in Minnesota. CUUPS-Twin Cities and the Pagan Institute provide this as a free service to our local Pagan community to help Pagans in the Metro to find one another and build community.

First, please check for your category in the Navigation Bar to the left. As our coverage has expanded and our format has changed, new pages have been created and many have been renamed. PLEASE REFRESH YOUR BROWSER!

Secondly, we regret that we can no longer glean dates and locations from the dozens of separate chatty listservs in Paganistan.  If your Metro area non-profit Pagan-related organization is holding regular events open to the public, please let us know so we can let other Pagans in the area know. (We also have pages for neighboring states.) If your group isn't listed, we probably never received the information.

Please do your part by sending complete details to the Editor by the 25th of each month. For details, visit Submissions and Policies (We appreciate your publicizing this website in return.) If your information is not verified by your group before the next equinox or solstice, your listing will be deleted.

Reciprocal publicity or other support of this 'zine is appreciated and really builds good karma, PLUS it builds our local Pagan community. Click here for banner exchange information.

For-profit events can be included for $10 per business card insertion/$25 per already html formated webpage (We use Dreamweaver.) We also accept banner exchange or in kind considerations. Classes appear on their own page; up to 5 lines of description for $10. Contact the editor for more information.

If you find a broken link or that a program has changed or has been discontinued, please inform us.  We try to keep up, but until revenues/donations raise the funds for link checking software, we really need your help, and failing that, your patience.  ;~)

More Questions?

Check out Submissions and Policies. If yours is a Pagan-related COMMERCIAL activity (selling goods or services or charging $10 or more for a program), we think it's only fair to expect reciprocity. That can be in the form of cash ($25 per video page/$10 for a business card sized ad) or in kind (merchandize, banner exchange) Write us

If you contact a group here,
please let them know you saw the notice in TwinCities Pagan News.

Thank you for your help in making this service available to the community.

PAAGAN AA Meeting
Mondays & Thursdays at Eye of Horus

Please spread the word! There are now two Pagan-supportive AA meetings in the area, every Monday and Thursday night at 7:00PM, both at Eye of Horus, 2717 Lyndale Ave. South in Minneapolis.

The only requirement for membership in either group is a desire to stop drinking/drugging; all spiritual traditions will be treated with respect. If you have questions about this group, please send them to info@paagans.com.

Thanks to Eye of Horus for providing space for this vital Pagan institution.

Shamanic Drumming, at First Universalist Church
3400 Dupont Ave S, Minneapolis

For years, Jaime Meyer has been teaching the shamanic art of the drum. He has made rattles and drums from reindeer hide and antler and can lead beginners to become a percussive tribal orchestra in a single evening!

They gather on Friday evenings (see current schedule below) from 7:00-9:30 PM, generally in the Cummins Room at at First Universalist Church of Minneapolis 3400 Dupont Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55408. (There is a small parking lot; note that Dupont Avenue is one-way, northbound.) A drumming class is held at 6:15 in the same space. Bring your drums, rattles, and sticks if you have them. As always, we'll gladly accept your free will donations for the program, but we don't want anyone stay away for financial reasons.

Check out Jaime's new blog at http://drummingthesoulawake.blogspot.com/

The following schedule is subject to changes, announced by newsletter. Contact  bremer101@yahoo.com to get an introductory letter from Jaime a few days before each drum.  Feel free to bring a friend any time.

Save the Date: The first regular drum of the Fall will be September 5th, in the Cummins Room.

Druid's Grove Gather: 3rd Thursdays of the month

Note change of day. This group now meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at Merlin's Rest, 3601 E Lake St Mpls. 7 to 9 PM. It's a warm and friendly place with traditional pub food. Don't miss the photos of Stonehenge, etc.   The wonderful old man I met there boasts that this is the only Pagan pub in Minneapolis.  It's served by busses #21, 24, and the 53 Express.

Pagan Night Out - Thursday, 9/27/2008, 6pm – 9pm

Come for coffee or tea, come for cards, come and knit or stitch, come for craft discussions, come and chill to the best of pagan music playing in the background. This is an informal, semi-structured meetup with occasional theme or movie nights. (Come share your ideas for themes). Meet new people, catch up with old friends, and most of all, have fun in a space that is more than Pagan-friendly and west of the River, for those who can't always make it all the way to Coffee Cauldron, or for those who want the option to gather more frequently. Twice a month Eye of Horus will transform the gallery space into a Salon. Feel free to drop in! Suggested donation ($5 - $?) to cover the cost of coffee/tea/cookies/space.

Hellenic Reconstructionists' study group 2nd & 4th Fridays

This is an open group, always welcoming newcomers. Please join in! Discussions will focus on Greek & Roman pantheon, and reconstruction of religious practices. The second Friday of each month will also include a Libation Ritual (please bring your own chalice/goblet). Donations to cover costs are cheerfully accepted (suggest $5).
7-8 p.m.

Chant for Peace:
1st Sunday of each month 1–2pm

The Hennepin County Enchanters will host an hour of chanting, here at Eye of Horus. The structure will be a Sanskrit mantra ceremony, with intention of enhancing peace in our world. All are welcome. Bring your body, your beads, and your benevolence. Text for the chants will be provided. Free & open to the public.

Mystic Posse Meet-up:
1st Saturday each month 10–11am

Todd Berntson, D.C., leads this open group. Meet with others who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and a stronger connection with the Divine. Our meet-ups involve learning concepts and then applying those ideas in an experiential activity. The focus will be on developing our five aspects of self (intellect, emotions, sexuality, physical body, and spirit). Activities tend toward some form of ritual, meditation, or discussion. Donations ($1 - $5) are encouraged, to help cover costs.

  Monthly Open Drum Jam
3rd Friday each month 7-9 pm

Bring your drum and join the circle! We jam on from 7-9 p.m on the 3rd Friday of every month in the gallery at Eye of Horus. The accoustics are amazing. Open Drum Jam (ByoD): On the third Friday of each month, the gallery is open for drummers to come and drum! There is no moderator, no leader, it's different every time. Please show up at 7 to get enough time to drum, we'll kick you out at 9:00 when the store closes. :) Donations to cover cost of the room are cheerfully accepted.

Higher Grounds: Full Moon Rituals in Stillwater
Each ritual will center around the name of each month's moon; for example, this coming Full Moon is, of course, the Harvest Moon!  For this ritual, think about a "Spiritual Harvest" you are thankful for this year.  Please write it on a piece of paper beforehand.  However, we will have paper available if you forget.

We will try to hold the rituals on the actual full moon dates: Mon., Sept. 15; Tue.,  Oct. 14; Thu.,  Nov. 13; Fri., Dec. 12.

Gather at 6 p.m. for socializing, etc. (or earlier if you like)
Ritual will be at 7 p.m. SHARP!  (We will make every effort to keep the ritual to one hour, to allow for a bit more socializing afterward, and time to make it home for a good night's sleep.)

Ritual Garb is encouraged.

Cakes and Wine will be passed during the ritual.

If you have musical instruments such as drums, rattles or wind instruments, please feel free to bring them along!

Coffee and Tea will be available before and after ritual. Please bring whatever you would like to drink, and/or a dish to pass.

GUESTS: You may bring guests as long as they are familiar/comfortable with "circle etiquette," which can be emailed to you on request.

ALLERGIES:  Please call regarding allergies to incense, etc. Cat and smoker on premises; however, there will be no smoking indoors on Full Moon Day.

SITE:    ALL rituals will be held outdoors unless it is raining/snowing or BELOW FREEZING!  So, please dress accordingly!  In case of inclement weather, ritual will be indoors.  It will be SNUG, but we can do it! Some chairs will be provided, however, we will be standing during ritual, unless you have a medical excuse.

Free will donations will be accepted to cover expenses of your host/hostess.

Full Moon Walks at Coldwater Spring

Coldwater is a 10,000-year-old spring that is a limestone record of geologic history from meltwater under the last glacier to the present. During full moon walks we provide interpretation about the geographic and human history of the area. Permission from United States Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service is being sought to visit the spring during these walks. Coldwater is such a beautiful and peaceful site. We would like to allow time for people to see and hear the water, to experience being at the spring, and to walk the labyrinth. If we show up for these walks, it will support our claim that this is a sacred site which should be protected, not to mention this is a beautiful way to honor the moons.

We meet at the parking lot at the end of Minnehaha Park From Hwy 55, or Hiawatha Blvd., turn into Minnehaha park at 54th St. Follow the road as it turns left and park in that parking lot. We will walk the frontage road to Coldwater. Walking is a significant part of the experience, to put your feet on the land, and walking is a traditional method of spiritual contemplation. We want only foot traffic in and out of Coldwater for full moon walks. In fact, we wish there was a pedestrian gate.       http://www.friendsofcoldwater.org/

We have been able to verify that this activity is still continuing as of 11/24/07.
For dates and details on full moon walks, contact Susu at: susujeffrey@earthlink.net

Reconstructionist Religions Meetup -- 3rd Saturdays

@ Diamonds, 1618 Central Ave NE, Mpls (NE side) Saturday November 18, 2006 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Meet other local people who practice a Reconstructionist Religion, such as Baltic, Celtic, Germanic, Greek, Kemetic, Nordic, Roman, Slavic, etc. The meetings are a time for socializing and networking where we can compare notes with the other groups in town to see what we are all doing. Where our efforts overlap we could also consider pooling our resources.

Guests are welcome. We are a rather small Meetup so for now the Minneapolis and St. Paul Reconstructionists Meetups will be held together.

* Events are free to attend

[Our information on this comes 3rd hand and is incomplete. If anyone involved can provide an email addy or phone contact for this event, we will continue to maintain this free ad. Please email info to the editor.]

But Most MeetUps are Dark Again:

The Minneapolis Witches and Magickal Meetups:
have lists of interested parties but no organizers.

THIS IS HOW Meet-Up WORKS:

Meet-Up events take place in public places, such as local restaurants, clubs, etc. It's a great way to meet like-minded folks. If you
the MeetUp site now & then, you'll see there's always new groups forming.  At one time there was a Pagan Parenting Meet-Up, a Wandering Witches (solitaries) Meet-Up and a St Paul Ritual Creation Meet-Up.

Don't understand exactly how Meet-Up works?
Visit:
  http://www.meetup.com/faq/tutorial/

For future months, register at http://pagan.meetup.com/

IF ANYONE GETS ANOTHER PAGAN-RELATED MEET-UP EVENT GOING,
please let me know, and we'll publish the info here as well.

There is a modest cost to be a group leader, along with an expectation of regular attendance.  Again, we only get the institutions we're willing to support. So has the $9/mo PER GROUP been just more than meeting other Pagans is worth?  Or is there some other reason that Pagan/Wiccan/Magick Meetups withered?

What's your opinion?

Not exclusively Pagan, but too much fun to leave out of these pages.
Mr. Fun Spin Jam

Spin Jams have been going on in Mpls for about 7 yrs.  It's always been alive and new mainly because everyone feels involved and a part of the experience.  Let's enhance this involvement... bring a drum or any percussion instruments including singing bowls and didgeridoos and bells for the opening circle, bring snacks and drinks to share, make a dish for folks to enjoy, bring something for the altar (a good place to put a photo of a loved one who need healing energy), bring a poem to the opening circle, bring a friend, or just bring an open heart & mind...

Dates and venues are too irregular and short notice to list here but they ARE frequent; an email list is available.

New Age Social Hour (NASH) Albertville/St. Michael NASH

is an informal group that meets 4 times a year at different locations. Most often we will meet at a restaurant or park to share a meal or activity. NASH is designed to be an opportunity to gather the Pagan community together with all Pagan paths and groups from the area to share group news and announcements as well as to be able to network with others on shared projects from the community. It is meant to be an informal gathering for fun and friendship among people of all paths and beliefs. It is not meant to be a place to convert anyone to any other path. We would encourage you to come and join us for a meal and just have a good time. There is power in numbers and it is fun to meet others of other paths as well as your own. If you have any questions contact Lady Sherrell at: 320-493-7187 [This number is no longer operating, editor] or Sacred_celtic_order_of_balance@yahoo.com.  [We have emailed Lady Sherrell and will change this notice as appropriate when she updates it. editor]

Saint Cloud State University Pagan Alliance

It is rumored that this group is meeting on Wednesday Evenings. Unfortunately, I have no contact info on them in a year, and cannot verify if they still meet, how to reach them, or whether they are open to non-students.

If anyone can verify or supplement this information, I will update this notice.

"The SCSU Pagan Alliance is a recognized University Organization supporting pagans and friends in central Minnesota by providing regular meetings for us to get together with likeminded people and doing whatever we can to support each other on our paths in life. Regular weekly meetings are held in the Atwood Theatre Lounge on Wednesdays at 8pm during fall and spring semesters."

University Pagan Society

We have heard that the University Pagan Society is no longer in operation at the U. If this information is incorrect, please contact the editor ASAP.

This is another long-running Pagan institution; locations have varied over the years. The University Pagan Society is a student group at the U of M. meeting regularly on Thursday, 7-9, first floor of Peik Hall 159 Pillsbury Drive. Look for the sign with the UPS moon & pentacle logoShow Me A Map to Peik!

For more information, please visit  www.umn.edu/~pagan

UPS is currently looking for new members, and most especially student members.  We have had a high amount of turnover in recent times, and many students graduated this year, so the group make up has changed from what it was in the past.

If you have any questions about the group, please e-mail pagan@tc.umn.edu.
